Muskoka-Inspired Retreat

With deep love and thoughtfulness, these wonderful grandparents set out to create a space their teenage grandchildren would truly see as their own, a comfortable home-away-from-home designed for comfort, fun, ease, and connection. This walk-out basement renovation was envisioned as a warm, cozy, and welcoming retreat where the grandchildren could spend time hanging out with friends, watching movies, playing games, relaxing, and simply enjoying a space that feels uniquely theirs, yet ready to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Inspired by Muskoka living, the palette layers soft greens and warm neutrals to create a calm, timeless backdrop. Comfortable, durable furnishings were carefully selected, including a large sectional, swivel chairs, reading chairs, and a generous coffee table, making the family room ideal for both gathering and quiet moments. Custom built-ins, a fireplace, a carefully curated selection of artwork, and thoughtfully designed lighting complete the space.

A custom kitchenette allows for easy access to snacks and beverages, while a beautifully finished bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower adds everyday convenience. With direct access to the backyard, pool, and outdoor kitchen, the space effortlessly extends outdoors, creating a flexible, family-friendly retreat enjoyed by both the grandchildren and their grandparents.
